Queen's Gambit FYC

CLIENT: Netflix ╳ VENUE: The Grove, LA ╳ ATTENDEES: 7,000

To honor The Queen’s Gambit’s 18 Emmy nominations, we concepted and designed a life-size chess board that popped up for 3 days in the middle of The Grove in LA. The immersive art installation featured a pink queen piece inspired by Beth Harmon and mirrored chess pieces played with light and reflection. There were open play chess boards set-up around the installation for attendees to try their hand at the game. With celebrity guests from the show, a VIP press night event and a 12-year-old chess prodigy playing against a 19-year-old master – this was a winning event! Quite literally, as the Queen’s Gambit took home the Emmy that year.

This event was produced by Cartwheel & Co. Creative Direction by Stephanie Dally.
